Today I’m doing All Thing Fadra’s new stream of consciousness Sunday. I’ve been wanted to do it for a few weeks now but never got around to it. The rules? Set a timer and do a FIVE minute free write. The kicker though? NO editing. JUST HIT PUBLISH. God help me cause I DO love to edit myself. This gives me a GREAT chance to share some news without thinking TOO hard about it, as I’m known to do. Here it goes…
Wow, I feel strange typing with a timer. I do it sometimes for work though but when it’s my own stuff, feels sorta weird. Let’s see how this goes, right?
You’ve probably noticed I’ve been a little on the down low lately. I’ve gotta good reason. Promise.
I’m losing my job at the end of the year.
The job that I moved across the country for. Kinda sucks but we ARE close to family now so I can’t complain about the move. It’s just that it was so sudden. I got a new boss about 1.5 months ago. Things were going GREAT. And then I get told my position is being eliminated. Maybe it’s because I was a director of marketing and she was a VP? I know my part-time status was probably a hindrance but I worked nights and weekends as needed to get the job done.
I’ll be on to bigger and better things. It’s a crappy time of year for it to happen but at least I didn’t get a chance to go all mad on rhstimas presents.
So, that kinda ties into my other news. I’m holding off on Momcomm Mondays for the rest of the year. I need to trade some blog post writing with resume and cover letter writing. I’m sure you’ll understand. Send me good vibes, okay?
[drat... as you can see I'm a slow writer. Five minutes is up. Good thing I type fast.]

Hugs again my friend. You know I got the same news the very next workday after you. I’ve been around and around the stages of grief on this and I just know it’s a blessing in disguise. Something is out there that you’d not have seen if you weren’t looking. Sending good vibes your way and thinking about you a lot.

Forgive me for being cliche, but I’m opting to believe that this door closing means another. much larger one is waiting for you. I’ll be keeping a good thought for you. For now, enjoy the chance to be off. (I know that’s impossible to actually do, but try anyway!)

Oh Michelle! Sorry to hear about the crappy situation, a bummer and I can only imagine disappointing, frustrating, confusing? I don’t know you personally, but I’m smart enough to see that you are an intelligent person and I am convinced that you will discover new, challenging and perhaps even fun (?!) opportunities.
As I sometimes say “You can kick me, but I will choose the direction to fly” – sometimes easier said than done, but another way to look at a temporarily awkward situation.
I over the next weeks and the holidays, you will enjoy the time with the kids and husband – be festive! 2011 could be one of the best years yet!
hugs!
Hey Mel, Tricia told me the news last week. Not fun news to hear. I know you have great support at home with hubby and reading the comments above, from your virtual friends here on the blog as well.
You will be fine, in fact, I would bet you will be better than fine and will look back at this someday for the blessing it was. Take a deep breath, relax, play with the kids and see what unfolds. Your next juicy adventure is right around the corner.
Hugs!
I’m so, so sorry! You seem to be handling it well, though. Best of luck finding something even better!

I totally did not know you relocated here for the job. If it makes you feel any better, we moved for a job my husband isn’t at anymore, either. There’s always something better around the corner!! Keep us posted and let me know if you need anything at all!

Good luck, Melissa! Change is never comfortable, but someone with your skills and talent has a wealth of opportunity available to them, so I’m excited to see where you go with this.

I’m sorry to hear about your news.
I agree with the other commentators that when one door closes, an even better one will open. You are certainly very talented, creative, and motivated so I am sure that it will not be long before that next door opens. Just be patient and use this time to really figure out what path is best for you. I wish you all the best. I look forward to following your journey.

Melissa, I’m sorry you’re having to deal with this job situation, but I think you’re doing the right thing by curtailing blogging and focusing on what will bring you good money now.

I completely understand what you are going through. I went through the same thing two years ago. After my maternity leave w/my second son, I walked in and was told I was being laid off. I had mixed emotions and after a few weeks it was ok. You are so talented and I know there will be good things ahead for you. I’m here if you ever need to chat

I am so sorry to hear about your job loss. Good luck! I know I’m just a random person here on the internet, but I’d be happy to look over a resume or cover letter if it would help. Wishing you a million great job opportunities to choose from in 2011!

Good job-hunting vibes headed your way!
It kills me when companies let people go right before the holidays. I understand it from a business perspective, but from a human perspective it completely sucks.
I’ll keep you and yours in my thoughts!

I wish you all the best! Don’t feel alone, we are all passing through different stages and difficulties in life. I just recently had a friend become the victim of domestic violence. Very tough time for her right now.
You have A LOT to be grateful for
I think I may jump on this stream of consciousness theme with you.
I’m sorry to hear that you lost your job
Good luck on finding something even better!
I used to be an HR Manager for a million years before I had kids – if you’d like, I’d be happy to look at your resume for you (from an HR perspective)

I already knew your news but still feel bad for you. I didn’t know you had moved here for that job. You know what though? Every cliche that everyone said about? They are absolutely right. It just usually takes hindsight to appreciate the situation. And I know you are up for a new adventure. You’re Adventuroo, remember?

Sorry to hear you lost your job. That really sucks! I’ve been there and thought it was the worst thing that ever happened. It ended up being the BEST thing.

I was fired from my job in 2007 a week before Christmas. And two weeks after getting a promotion. Talk about being blindsided…it was horrible. Especially since they made up some phony charge and then tried to deny me my unemployment. Come to find out they were slowing letting go all the people they deemed were making “too much.” But better things? You bet, 5 months later I was pregnant!! I know better things are around the corner for you, girly!

I love these five minute posts too and I keep meaning to do one. I’m in this week I hope!
