If you’ve ever started talking bloggy stuff to your non-bloggy friends, it’s usually met with blank stares, nods of indifference and maybe even a “you do that, why?” (Okay so I have a few friends who “get it” but that doesn’t help my point, so shush.)
Having a bloggy bond with someone is a fast ticket to friendship. I discovered this a few months ago when I started writing for Triangle Mamas and got introduced to some fabulous local bloggers! A few months in and we’ve now got a local group of about 15 of us who get together every so often to laugh, eat, drink and just be girls. Ahem, women.
This past Wednesday, we left the kiddos and hubbies and headed to a hip new consignment boutique in Raleigh called Dress. Pam the owner is fabulous and I squealed a little at the clothes being sorted by color (dork alert). Dress. has a mix of new and used designer clothes and accessories. You should have seen us ladies swooping in on this stuff.
After a little shopping, we headed over to Busy Bee Cafe, ranked in the top 150 beer bars by Draft Magazine. Not to mention their food is EXCELLENT.
The sad (yet GREAT) thing is we were so busy chatting it up that I neglected to get any good pictures of us actual bloggers. Plus my flash was being wonky so the ones I did get were blurry. But you can meet them anyway:
- @allthingsfadra from All Things Fadra
- @motherhoodnme from Motherhood and Me
- @sueandfadra from Lives Less Ordinary (new blog from the two gals above)
- @IlinaP from Dirt & Noise
- @AndreaUpdyke from LilKidThings
- @followlinus from follow linus
- @pretty_swell from pretty*swell
- @keljernigan from Monkey Man
- @sweetbabboo from my sweet babboo
- @bkeepsushonest from The B Keeps Us Honest
- @CarolinaMama from Carolina Mama
- @heirtoblair from the heir to BLAIR
- @convertiblelife from my convertible life
- @rjhuwe from The Huwe Boys
What about your town or city? Do you know any bloggers in your area? Do you get together?

Do you realize how sad I am that I live 3 hours away from you all? But my family still lives there, so I really would drive 3 hours to hang with you guys some!
OR… y’all could just move up to the mountains…
We’d love to have you! Be on the lookout for the next get together, although I can’t say EXACTLY when that will be. I’m already ready for another one though!

How luck are you? I would love to be able to talk to people that don’t think I’m nuts and have absolutely no idea what a widget or linky is. haha.
Haha! There’s an entirely other bloggy language for sure.
We have a lot of bloggers in our area, and we do meet up in various forms (formally and informally). Having so many women active online was one of the things that propelled my business partner and I to start our hyper-local mom site, http://www.chambanamoms.com. Hope to meet your group at Type A Mom!
Awesome site! I WISH I were going to Type A but a lot of my fellow Triangle mommies will be there!

What a great idea! I think I will start looking for other bloggers in my area. My friends are supportive and a few even follow, but they don’t blog (yet, anyway). It would be great to get together with other mom bloggers:)

I am so jealous…that looks like a blast! I have one friend who blogs, but she’s out of state so we don’t see each other very often, but I totally agree with you on how people just don’t get blogging!! Oh, and it’s not a bad thing about the lack of pictures…it just means you were having fun, and that is a good thing!
Blessings, Monica

Great post, mama! I am so psyched to have made such wonderful friends through my blog. Who would have guessed?
Looking forward to planning our next outing!!
Stopping by to say hello and what do I find? More fantastic bloggers! Thanks!
Hey Mel, great post!!! I would love to do this in my own area. How would I get involved in meeting other bloggers in my area? Is there a specific site to go to?? VERY interesting!!
I wish I had Bloggy Friends to hang out with. At this point, I usually don’t have many real, physical friends, most are online. (I have a phobia, don’t wanna get into.) It’s really neat to see bloggers actually becoming friends with Bloggers. And that place looks really neat. Is it in a City? I’m just visiting for the first time so pardon. Oh, dork alert here as well, Raleigh. North Carolina, right? Wow, some brains I have, I bet it is a City. Well I hope you had fun, it sounds like you had a past.
A day away from any children is such a treasured thing! It’s hard to remember the last time I ever attempted that.

We think we will be moving to the Raleigh area in the next year or so…hope I can be cool enough to join your group!
I have met many wonderful people through the world of blogging, many that I call friends with no hesitation. I have a hard time meeting people in my day to day and so this is the next best thing!
Absolutely! Let me know if you guys end up moving– the more the merrier I say!

It’s hard to believe that I only really took blogging seriously (if you can say that with a straight face) in February. So lucky to be part of the group. And to others out there? Twitter is a great place to connect and even tweet-ups. Not too scary, I promise.

He He, I admit I’m a bit late joining this band wagon but July seems to be the month of meeting local folks for me and I am having sooo much fun with it already. I met two stellar ladies for lunch at a happening spot with a sandbox for the kids, next week I’m meeting another blogging Mom for $1 cupcakes
and at the end of the month I’m meeting a fellow nature lover and taking teh kids exploring. I’m even considering attending a Tweetbabes event (drinks with local Twitter gals). It was about time for me to get to know some folks in this new/huge city of mine. It’s fun to find friends with similar interests, ideals and passions. Glad to know I’m not the only one venturing out for play dates with online pals
I just found your blog through triangle mommies! So great to find other mommy bloggers in the area! Your blog is fabulous and those 2 boys are so cute!
Yay for TM! Glad you like the blog!
