Marching Orders from a Two Year Old

This morning I got up and hopped in the shower to get ready for work. The usual.

Big Roo got up a little earlier than normal and Daddy Roo had crawled back in bed after feeding the dog and starting the coffee for those extra few minutes of sleeping bliss. When I got out of the shower, I opened to bathroom door to find both of them in bed– awake but laying down. So cute– I wanna join the party.

I walked over to my side of the bed and tried squeezing my pregnant self in bed too to savor a few snuggly minutes. But Big Roo put a stop to that!

He said “Mama, you can’t lay down.”

“Why not?” I asked.

He just replied, “No.” It wasn’t mean or spiteful, just matter-of-fact. Like this was Daddy’s time.

I sighed. Had to get ready for work anyway. As I put my feet on the floor to walk away, he said to me, as serious as could be:

“Go get some coffee.”

Sheesh.
