When Daddy Roo and I were considering our move to North Carolina, our love of all things outdoorsy factored into our decision (along with all the things normal people focus on like cost-of-living, job market, etc.). I mean I seriously went to REI’s website and checked how many REI stores were in town. I figured that would give me a good idea of whether or not the Triangle was “outdoorsy enough” for us. Nice huh?
Along the path of my research, I found some great links about things to do outdoors in NC. I plan to create a new tab at the top to list these permanently (and add more along the way). Got any good ones to add to the list?

You live in NC?! We are considering a move to there. And you are convincing me with all these great things!
Oh cool! We live in Raleigh, NC– about three hours from the mountains and 2 hours from the beach! Where are you thinking about moving?

Stone Mountain is my all-time favorite hike in NC. Been going since I was a kid. It gets a little tough toward the top, especially on the rock face, but the waterfall at the end makes is all worth it. Kid- and dog-friendly. Just be prepared to stop a lot on the way up.
