… this was Big Roo. We spent Thanksgiving at a friend’s house in sunny AZ. Before dinner, he had a chance to crawl on lush green grass but it turned out he didn’t think it was all so lush. He’d “crawl” without using his knees which was pretty darn funny.

Maybe it’s because I’m preggers and can only think of food, but with chillier weather and falling leaves, I crave warm, gooey desserts instead of things like Cold Stone Creamery or . The true pinnacle of camping dessert is, of course, s’mores. Gooey marshmallows and warm nearly-melted chocolate sandwiches between two crispy graham crackers. Yummers. [...]

Big Roo’s first trip to the Grand Canyon back in 2007. He had to wear his blue/green striped PJs because we didn’t pack right for the trip and it was one of the warmest things we brought him.

I’m Melissa. Most people call me Mel. I’m a mama to two boys and a lover of all things outdoors. I'm a marketing ninja who hearts good grammar. I also love Twitter, my Mac and all things techy.
This is Daddy Roo. We met in 1995, got married in 2000 and had Big Roo seven years later. Yeah, we like to take our time. Daddy Roo plays soccer, loves cooking more than I do and takes sarcasm to a level few people can. He’s awesome.
Big Roo is our 3-year-old ball of energy. He’s all boy except for the pink bear he carries around. I embrace the contradiction. He’s already a fan of hiking and camping.
The youngest of the Roo family. He’s already been on two hikes and loves gazing up at the trees from the comfort of his Baby Bjorn.
